Our Story
The IntermixIT Story
How two contract technicians turned a near-collapse into a Central Pennsylvania IT team businesses rely on.
Jason Abel and Andy Strouse grew up obsessed with how things worked. Jason hustled from a young age, paper routes, mowing lawns, shoveling snow, then started pulling electronics apart to see what made them tick. Andy was soldering his own circuit boards, and picked up a lifelong service mindset from his family's businesses and years waiting tables, where the whole job was making people want to come back.
Jason moved to Pennsylvania in the early 2000s and started fixing computers for anyone who needed help. Andy graduated from Penn State and took contract work for Dell. In 2005 the two ended up side by side repairing machines, became fast friends, and shook hands on a 50/50 partnership, drawn up on a napkin in a bar.
They made it official in 2007 as Capital City Computers, running hundreds of service calls a week for the biggest names in tech and for families across Central Pennsylvania. Then in 2010 their largest client cut every subcontractor overnight, and the business was slashed in a day.
Instead of folding, they rebuilt. They walked away from consumer break-fix, focused on solving real business problems with technology, and that same year Capital City Computers became IntermixIT. They modeled the company on hospitality, where the experience is everything, and built a team-first culture around a single idea.
